Not too long ago in Paris, an interesting group of young curators formed C-E-C, the French Association for Curators. They've organized themselves --which takes much time and will, and all of that that comes with voluntary labor-- to advocate for rights for independent curators in France. The group appoints a leader, which is a temporary and rotating position within the group, so they can meet ends more efficiently. With only a year or so in the making, they've brokered some great things already. Certainly, the supports for the arts in France is different, but still, the work of C-E-C is exemplary. In any case, it's good to see what other interest groups in the field are doing, accomplishing and still fighting for. And to learn how they do and undo. This is C-E-C's website: www.c-e-a.asso.fr.
